Pricing

What local SEO actually costs in Toronto, and what changes the number

Nine of the eleven Toronto agency sites I checked publish no pricing at all. Here are my three plans with real numbers, the three things that genuinely move the price, and when you should not pay anyone for this.

The short version

My plans are $299, $499 and $799 a month in CAD with no contracts. What moves that number is your competitors’ review counts, whether your site is already indexable, and how many cities you need. If you will not answer the phone or ask for reviews, do not buy local SEO yet.

What local SEO actually costs in Toronto

Toronto agencies almost never publish prices. I checked eleven Toronto local SEO sites before writing this and nine of them had no number anywhere, just a contact form and a promise of a custom quote. That is not because pricing is genuinely complicated. It is because a number lets you compare, and comparison is bad for the agency that is charging four figures for a monthly PDF.

So here are mine, and then the part that actually matters, which is what moves the number up or down.

What I charge

Three plans. $299, $499 and $799 a month in Canadian dollars, no contracts, and you can leave whenever you want.

$299 covers a single location that mainly needs its Google Business Profile fixed and maintained. Categories, services with real descriptions, photos, weekly posts, review responses, and call tracking so you can see what the profile is producing.

$499 is the one most trades and restaurants land on. It adds the website work, on-page SEO across your service pages, and a monthly rank map instead of a rankings list.

$799 is for businesses covering several cities or several service lines, where there is genuinely more surface area to work on.

There is also a one-time build if you need the site itself, which is separate from the monthly.

What actually changes the price

Three things, and none of them are the ones agencies usually cite.

The first is how many reviews your competitors already have, and it is the biggest factor by a distance. If the businesses in the map pack for your money keyword are sitting at 30 or 40 reviews, that is a market you can enter. If they are all north of 200, you are not buying SEO, you are buying a two year campaign, and I will tell you that on the call rather than after you have paid for three months.

The second is whether you already have a site Google can read. A fast, indexable site is most of the battle. If yours is a slow page builder site with the phone number inside an image, the first month is repair work before any of the ranking work starts.

The third is how many cities you actually want. One city is straightforward. Six cities means six pages that each need to be genuinely different, and thin duplicated city pages are worse than no city pages at all.

When you should not pay anyone for local SEO

I would rather say this than have you find out in month four.

If you are not going to answer the phone, do not buy this. Pickup rate affects your map position, and more to the point, ranking first and letting it ring out is an expensive way to do nothing. If you cannot take the calls yet, fix that first.

If your business is brand new with no reviews and no photos and you are not willing to ask customers for reviews, the work will be slower and more expensive than it needs to be. Review velocity is the part I cannot do for you.

And if your category in your city is genuinely saturated, sometimes the honest answer is that ads will get you customers faster while the organic work compounds in the background.

What you should ask any agency you talk to

Ask what happens to the website if you leave. If they own it, you are renting your own front door.

Ask to see a call log, not a rankings report. Rankings are easy to make look good. A call log with recordings is not.

Ask how many clients they take in your city and category. If the answer is unlimited, they are ranking your competitor next.

If you want to see the plans laid out properly, they are on the pricing page. If you want me to look at your specific market before you spend anything, tell me the city and the service and I will check the map pack and tell you honestly whether it is winnable.
